The Performance Tracking investment process was created as a tool to screen the thousands of no-load mutual funds and Exchange Traded Indexes that are available to every investor. I track managers in a wide range of market sectors and diversify portfolios into both growth and income producing investments worldwide. Every month I update the current performance facts on hundreds of the no-load funds offered by TD Ameritrade Institutional and rank them based on their actual performance for investors over different time periods and their operating expenses. These monthly rankings are the foundation of the Performance Tracking investment strategy. Based on this research and reports from other independent sources, investor accounts are diversified as broadly as possible subject to each client’s objectives and the size of their investment. Positions are sold and automatically upgraded into stronger funds as required by changes in both the Performance Tracking and Morningstar rankings. Current rankings are fully disclosed to each investor on their monthly Performance Report.
Every portfolio I manage is unique and not simply a model where an investor is plugged into one of several choices. New portfolios are diversified between Growth Investments (U.S. and Foreign stocks) and Income Producing Investments (U.S. and Foreign Bonds and cash) based on the investors tolerance for market risk and their need for current income. Every investor has their own feelings about the amount of volatility they are willing to accept to grow their portfolio and their initial thoughts, when the account is opened, may change if markets decline. Since each account is individually managed I can adjust the diversification at anytime based on changes in an investor’s circumstances, objectives or market concerns. Therefore, it is critical that investors review their allocation between growth and (lower risk) income producing investments on their monthly Performance Reports and contact me anytime they want to change their diversification.
Self Directed Investments: Many investors have individual stock or bond investments that they select and manage themselves. Unlike other investment advisors that typically charge a management fee on all of the assets in an account even if they are not managed by the advisor I do not charge a fee on positions that I do not manage. Since I only manage no-load mutual funds and ETF’s investors can deposit other investments into their account and use the TD Ameritrade Institutional on-line discount brokerage service and Ameritrade’s substantial research platform to help them manage these investments. In addition, if the investor chooses they can use my research to manage their own fund investments. I will include all self directed assets in the monthly Performance Reports so investors will get a true picture of their overall diversification and performance. This summary will also show any available Performance Tracking or Morningstar rankings. |
